Newell Rubbermaid has established a $25 million foundation to serve as its primary method for charitable giving.

The foundation will be funded over five years and contributions from it will focus on education and young adults.

"The establishment of the Newell Rubbermaid Foundation marks a new milestone in our commitment to become a more impactful corporate citizen,” Newell Rubbermaid president and CEO Mark Ketchum said in a statement.

Foundation president Jackie Parker said its establishment is a further move to place corporate roots in Atlanta. In the past, she said, the company has given $4 or $5 million a year to a group of 22 non-profits.

Parker said the foundation will give to organizations that help children from birth to age 18. She said it will have a particular focus on developing technical and trade skills for students who may not be interested in college.
