Midtown will get a new burst of green this spring with a new park planned next to John Marshall Law School.

Jamestown, an Atlanta-based real estate investment and management firm, is teaming up with the Midtown Alliance on the park project, which will sit on a quarter-acre space between 1412 West Peachtree Street and 10 18th Street that once housed two abandoned buildings.

The project is part of a larger effort to create more green spaces throughout the area, said Kevin Green, president and CEO of the Midtown Alliance. The group recently adopted a sustainability action plan called Greenprint Midtown.

The park will preserve a large magnolia tree on the site and include outdoor furniture for people to eat and gather. The law school will also contribute sustainable landscaping, including drought-tolerant native plants, throughout the park.

"Establishing green space within urban areas is important to Jamestown," said Katharine Kelley, director of the real estate firm.

Jamestown has developed retail spaces along Peachtree Street in Midtown and White Provisions in West Midtown. It's also redeveloping the former City Hall East into the mixed-use Ponce City Market.
