New Gulfstream corporate jets, with prices beginning at $43.5 million, will be able to fly at a high-speed cruise of Mach 0.90.

Savannah-based Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. this week unveiled two new business jets that are faster, more spacious and more fuel efficient than previous models.

The Gulfstream G500 will start at $43.5 million.

The jets can carry up to 19 passengers each.

The cockpit has 10 integrated touchscreens that the pilot uses for system controls, flight management, communication, checklists and monitoring weather and flight information.

Both aircraft can reach an altitude of 51,000 feet with 100 percent fresh air to aid mental alertness reduce fatigue.

The company will produce the wings and the vertical and horizontal stabilizers. They will be powered by the Pratt & Whitney Canada PW800 engine.

The G500 and G600 can fly at a high-speed cruise of Mach 0.90, saving pilots up to an hour per flight versus flying at Mach 0.80.

The maximum operating speed for both aircraft is Mach 0.925.

The company expects to begin delivery of the G500 in 2018 and the G600 a year later.

"Once again, our customers played a major role in the development and creation of these aircraft," Gulfstream President Larry Flynn said.

Gulfstream, which is owned by General Dynamics and employs 12,000, will build the jets in Savannah

Gulfstream has produced more than 2,200 aircraft for customers around the world since 1958.
