Mortgage interest rates inch above 4 percent

Average interest rates for 30-year fixed mortgages inched above 4 percent after last week's drop into the 3 percent range.

Freddie Mac reported Thursday the average rate was 4.12 percent.

Mortgage rates had dropped in part because they track the yield on 10-year Treasury notes, which was also on the way down. But uncertainty in the stock markets have pushed investments into Treasury notes, so the yield is back up.
