Moe’s Southwest Grill, which announced two weeks ago it was expanding its Southwestern food restaurants to California, said Tuesday it has opened its first location in Jamaica.

The restaurant is at Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay. The franchise agreement is with of Margaritaville Caribbean Ltd. the largest operator of food and beverage businesses at the airport.

Moe’s is operated by Atlanta-based FOCUS Brands International, an Atlanta-based franchisee that said more restaurants are planned for Brazil, Egypt, India and six Arab countries. Last year, Moe’s restaurants were opened in Costa Rica and Russia.

FOCUS is owned by Atlanta-based Roark Capital Group, an Atlanta-based private equity firm, and its franchises include Carvel Ice Cream, Cinnabon, Schlotzsky’s and Auntie Anne’s Pretzels.
