Metro Atlanta home prices in September were up 18.7 percent from a year ago, according to the latest S&P/Case-Shiller Index, released this morning.

The nation’s housing market continues to heat up and Atlanta remains one of the hotter home markets. The national average gain was 11.2 percent from a year ago. The top 20 metros averaged a 13.3 percent gain.

Atlanta prices in September were, on average, 0.5 percent higher than the month before, according to Case-Shiller. Prices in August were 0.5 percent higher than in July.
