Metro Atlanta employers are feeling optimistic about the size of their staffing levels in the next three months.

More than one in five who participated in the Manpower Employment Outlook Survey _ 22 percent _ said they plan to hire additional workers from October to the end of the year.

Only three percent said they expect to reduce staffing levels in the quarter, while 71 percent anticipate holding the line on the number of workers.

By comparison, six percent of local employers surveyed had expected to trim staffing in the current quarter, and six percent had expected decreases in the fourth quarter of 2013.

“Compared to one year ago … local employers expect a brighter hiring forecast,” said Judy Leppla, a spokesperson for Manpower.

Nationwide, 19 percent of the 18,000 employers surveyed said they expect to increase the size of their work forces during the fourth quarter, while seven percent said they anticipate reducing staffing levels in the period.
