Metro Atlanta Chamber launches new startup program

A powerful Atlanta business group is launching a new program that aims to cultivate startup companies, raise money to fund new ventures and provide low-cost training for a growing workforce.

The Metro Atlanta Chamber said Tuesday it tapped Katie Kirkpatrick to lead the Business Higher Ed Council. She will also focus on building an entrepreneurship network and expanding internship opportunities.

“Our most important initiative is to create new jobs in metro Atlanta. And this helps to create an ecosystem in Atlanta that’s very favorable to new company startups and helping them develop into fully-fledged companies,” said John Brock, the chief executive of Coca-Cola Enterprises and the chamber’s 2011 chair.
