Marietta has landed the information technology and engineering headquarters of a New York-based employment screening systems company.

The relocation will bring with it 35 jobs with an average salary of about $110,000.

The company, Sterling Infosystems, plans by the end of this month to fill the positions for software application developers, network engineers and software project managers.

"Georgia was the obvious choice for us to relocate our IT and engineering operations because the state is abundant with the talent we need to fill these positions," said Anthony Maiello, chief information officer for Sterling. "Beyond the technology talent, we are excited to take advantage of Georgia's deep and rich technology ecosystem ..."

Maiello specifically cited the Technology Association of Georgia, an umbrella organization with more than 15,000 members that seeks to promote the state's technology-based economy.

Tino Mantella, president and CEO of TAG, noted the area's expanding high-tech footprint.

"Georgia is home to more than 19,000 technology establishments and growing," Mantella said.

Sterling Infosystems is a worldwide provider of criminal background checks, previous employment verification, educational credential verification and drug testing.
