Local employees of Coca-Cola Enterprises to vote on Teamster representation
By Jeremiah Mcwilliams
June 3, 2010Atlanta-area employees of bottler Coca-Cola Enterprises plan to vote on June 10 on whether to be represented by the Teamsters union. The elections would affect approximately 340 employees of the Coca-Coca bottler at three locations in the metro area. Votes will be tallied at CCE's College Park plant at 9:30 p.m. on June 10, according to Ben Speight, organizing director of Teamsters Local 728. The Teamsters, who represent about 15,000 workers involved in the production and distribution of Coke, have sparred with CCE over labor relations issues in the lead-up to the vote. Relations between the Teamsters and Coca-Cola Enterprises dominated most of the recent annual shareholders meeting of Atlanta-based CCE.
