The Georgia Department of Labor will hold a series of workshops starting this Friday and Saturday to help laid-off state education employees looking for new careers.
Laid-off teachers, administrators and school support personnel will be told how to file for unemployment insurance benefits and briefed on available re-employment, training and career transition services.
The first workshops are scheduled for Friday and Saturday in Atlanta, Marietta, Macon and Albany. The Atlanta sessions will be held at the Atlanta Airport Marriott and the Atlanta Marriott Century Center, and the Marietta session will be at the Marietta campus of Chattahoochee Technical College. There are two workshops each day at each site, starting at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
