Kroger is recalling spinach sold in Georgia and 14 other states because it may be contaminated with Listeria.

The recall covers “Fresh Selections Tender Spinach” that is sold in 10-ounce packages with a sell-by date of Sept. 16, Kroger said in a statement.

The product, supplied by NewStar Fresh Foods, is being recalled because it may contain Listeria monocytogenes. Listeria can lead to severe illness in pregnant women or in people with weakened immune systems.

Customers should return the items to stores for a full refund or a replacement, Kroger said. Customers can visit www.kroger.com/ for more information on the recall.
