Kroger opens its newest Atlanta-area store this week and will mark the occasion with a $420,700 donation to Susan G. Komen Greater Atlanta.
The Lindbergh/Piedmont Kroger at 242 Morosgo Way opens its doors at 9 a.m. Wednesday, the chain said.
Work started on the 84,400-square-foot store in 2015, and it will employ about 300 people, according to a press release.
The donation to the Komen organization, a nonprofit that supports breast cancer screening, diagnostic and support services, includes $270,700 raised from customers and associates during a four-week breast cancer awareness and pink ribbon sale campaign. It also includes $150,000 from the Sharing Courage in-store merchandising promotion, Kroger said.
Kroger has about 130 metro Atlanta locations.
The Lindbergh/Piedmont store follows the recent opening of a 120,000-square-foot Kroger in East Atlanta, and the chain plans a new store near Ponce City Market.
