A Johns Creek trucking company has acquired two Duluth businesses.

Saia, Inc. is purchasing Robart Transportation, Inc. and its subsidiary, the RL Services Group, for about $7.8 million.

According to an announcement from Saia, the acquisition will enhance Saia's service and provide the company with growth opportunities. The 31-year-old Robart companies, which had 2011 revenues of $12 million, specialize in truckload brokerage and logistics services.

Saia is a less-than-truckload carrier that has 8,200 employees. It provides regional and guaranteed transportation for companies, and operates in 34 states.

Sharon Burton, the president and CEO of the Robart companies, will keep leading the operations of those businesses. They will be renamed Saia by the end of the year.
