Jacoby Development has selected Los Angeles-based MBS3 to lease and manage Atlanta Media Campus and Studios, the proposed massive makeover of a large swath of the OFS optical fiber manufacturing plant north of I-285 at Jimmy Carter Boulevard.
MBS3’s LA campus is home to James Cameron’s Lightstorm Entertainment and the coming sequels to the smash movie Avatar, other notable feature films tied to the Marvel comics chain and TV productions.
“We are fortunate to be teaming with one of the most experienced owners and managers of independent studios and accompanying production service providers in the country,” Jim Jacoby said.
MBS3 will buy new production equipment and move it to the Atlanta location. Georgia is already one of the top states in the country for productions.
Jacoby is best know in Atlanta for leading the effort to successfully develop Atlantic Station on the site of a closed steel mill in downtown Atlanta.
He is redeveloping 114 acres of the massive site with its standing buildings into sound stages offices, support facilities, back lots, a film school, hotel and housing.
