Inalfa Roof Systems, a Dutch company that supplies sunroofs and other roofing to automakers, plans to expand its new plant in Cherokee County, eventually creating at least 300 new jobs.

The company opened a $17.1 million plant last year off I-75 at Cherokee 75 Corporate Park. It currently assembles sunroof systems for BMW, GM, Nissan and Ford vehicles at the Cherokee Assembly Facility.

The company said it will invest at least $8 million to construct its second building at the site.

The new jobs will come in stages at the plant, which now employs at least 400. The additional jobs will be in place by 2019.

Inalfa’s global headquarters is in Venray, the Netherlands. The Cherokee plant will be Inalfa’s fourth in the U.S. and first in the Southeast. North American headquarters is located in Michigan.
