Ikea is adding solar panels to its Atlanta store, and to all of its stores in the South.

The 4,326 panels on the Atlanta store will generate more than 1.4 million kilowatt hours of energy a year, the equivalent of powering 122 homes, the company said. A Savannah distribution center will be outfitted with 6,250 panels, producing energy that could power 175 homes.

The company said in a statement that it already has 12 solar energy systems in the U.S., with 11 more underway, in addition to the moves it is making at 10 Southern locations.
