The Home Depot announced Thursday that it has purchased online retailer Blinds.com for an undisclosed sum.

Launched in 1996, Houston-based Blinds.com offers window coverings — including blinds, shades, drapes and valances — online as well as video tutorials and one-on-one video chats with designers.

“The acquisition of Blinds.com positions us well for expansion in the quickly growing online window coverings market,” Frank Blake, Home Depot’s chairman and chief executive officer, said in a release. “In addition, their unique sales and service model is one we hope to learn from as we continue to create even better interconnected retail experiences for our customers.”

Blinds.com staff will continue to work for the web retail outlet at its Houston headquarters, Home Depot said.

“We will continue to build the Blinds.com brand and culture in our own unique way, and we believe The Home Depot is the best partner to help us do this over the long term,” Jay Steinfeld, founder and CEO of Blinds.com, said in the release.
