T.J. Maxx pulled a t-shirt from its stores after a Twitter user posted a photo Monday from a store in Kissimmee, Fla., questioning the meaning of the phrase “Hang Loose” next to a noose — reminiscent of both suicide and lynching.

After the complaint hit social media, T.J. Maxx responded, asking for details about the offensive shirt, and within short order, the t-shirt disappeared from T.J. Maxx stores and from the t-shirt manufacturer’s own website.
