Half Off Depot, the Atlanta-based operator of a daily deal website by the same name, said it has secured $2 million in funding from its majority owner to fuel growth across the U.S. and Canada.

The investment by Knoxville-based Apollo Creative Group "will help solidify our position in existing markets, as well as help us to expand into new markets at a faster pace," Half Off Depot's president, Patrick Best, said. Apollo Creative, a media holding company, became majority owner of Half Off Depot in June 2009.

Half Off Depot is one of several discount sites, including Groupon and LivingSocial, that seek to build an audience of bargain-hunters.
