A Chinese chemical company plans to establish its North American headquarters and a factory near Savannah, according to an announcement Thursday from Gov. Nathan Deal’s office.

Hubei Xingfa Chemicals Group plans to create 50 jobs at its new facilities in Effingham County. The announcement comes as Deal leads a delegation in Asia to recruit business to the Peach State. The company expects to start hiring next year.

The company makes and sells phosphates and other fine chemicals, making products used in fertilizers, feeds and electronics, the state said. The company, founded in 1984, exports to more than 40 counties and has major multinational partners in Proctor & Gamble, Dow Chemical and Unilever, according to a news release.
