Sandy Springs-based transactions processor Global Payments has named its president, Jeffrey S. Sloan, as its new CEO, the company said Tuesday.

Sloan succeeds Paul Garcia, Global’s chief executive since 1999, who will remain as the company’s chairman. Sloan joined Global in 2010, steering the company’s Americas operations and its mergers and acquisitions strategy, before adding additional responsibilities across Global’s footprint, the company said.

On Monday, Global also reported 7 percent growth in revenue in the first quarter of fiscal 2014 compared to the same period last fiscal year.
