Georgia-Pacific said it will invest about $40 million to expand a Dixie paper products plant in Fort Smith, Ark.

Construction currently under way will expand the plant’s plate manufacturing capacity, will include new technology and equipment. Start-up is expected next year.

Georgia-Pacific plans to invest more than $100 million in its Arkansas plants this year. It has already invested more than $30 million at the Sebastian County plant since 2012, the company said.

The Fort Smith plant is expected to employ more than 350 people when expansion is completed. Georgia-Pacific employs more than 35,000 people.
