Georgia-Pacific agrees to acquire Alabama pulp mills

Georgia-Pacific said Wednesday it reached a deal to acquire Parsons & Whittemore's Alabama River and Alabama Pine  pulp mills in Perdue Hill, Ala. Terms of the deal were not disclosed but Georgia-Pacific gets the assets of the pulp mills, a biodiesel plant, chip mills and a pulpwood yard. The transaction is expected to close in the third quarter of this year.
