Georgia-Pacific Consumer Products LP, an Atlanta-based paper products company, said it will acquire paper packaging supplier SPG Holdings LLC.

Dallas-based SPG supplies packaging to the foodservice industry. The company produces bags, wraps, napkins, towels and tissue and bundling products. The company has operations in Augusta, Hattisburg, Miss., and Green Bay, Wis.

Last month, Georgia-Pacific, whose paper product brands include Quilted Northern, Angel Soft, Brawny, announced it will invest about $40 million to expand a Dixie paper products plant in Fort Smith, Ark. Construction will expand the plant's plate manufacturing capacity and will include new technology and equipment. Start-up is expected next year.
