A hundred dollars buys more in Georgia than it does in the average state, according to an analysis of Bureau of Labor Statistics numbers by the Tax Foundation.

The Tax Foundation looked at costs state-to-state to figure out how much a dollar buys, comparatively, in the U.S.

Georgia fared well. You can buy $108.70 worth of goods here. On the other hand, you can buy about $113.51 worth of goods in a our neighboring state of Alabama.

The most expensive place to live are the District of Columbia, where for the national average $100 you can buy $84.60 worth; Hawaii ($85.32), New York ($86.66), New Jersey ($87.64), and California ($88.57). That same money goes the furthest in Mississippi ($115.74), Arkansas ($114.16), Missouri ($113.51), Alabama (113.51), and South Dakota ($113.38).
