The Georgia Distilling Co. has received a federal permit as a fully registered and licensed distilled spirits plant. The company is based in Milledgeville.

"This leaves us poised to open our doors within the next few weeks," co-founder Bill Mauldin said in an e-mail. He said Georgia Distilling's first products should hit store shelves in Georgia and surrounding states within eight weeks.
