Gas prices are falling in Georgia and nationwide.

The average price for a gallon of regular unleaded in Georgia was $3.65 Monday morning, down 1 cent from Sunday and 6 cents from this time last week, according to AAA's Daily Fuel Gauge Report. The average nationwide is $3.66, down 4 cents from a week ago.

The average price for mid-grade in Georgia is $3.81, and $3.95 for premium. This time last year, gas was about $1 a gallon less than it is today.

The cheapest gas in Georgia is in the Augusta area, where regular unleaded averages $3.50. The most expensive is in Athens at $3.70.

The best price for gas in the Atlanta area is $3.48 at a Costco on Mount Zion Road in Morrow, according to Atlantagasprices.com. The most expensive was $4.09 at a Chevron station at Cobb Parkway and North Marietta Parkway.

Meanwhile, the Associated Press reported oil prices fell over $3 to near $83 a barrel Monday after Standard & Poor's downgraded the U.S. credit rating, which could stunt economic growth and curb demand for oil.
