Gas prices continue to trend downward in Georgia and the rest of the nation.

On Monday, Georgians were paying an average of $3.26 for a gallon of regular unleaded, down more than 7 cents from last week and 32 cents from last month, according to AAA's Fuel Gauge Report. A year ago the average price was $2.59.

The lowest price in Georgia is currently in Macon, where $3.17 is the norm. The highest is Athens at $3.29. Metro Atlanta's average price matched the statewide figure at $3.26.

The current national average is $3.41. The highest price in the lower 48 states in California, at $3.88. The lowest is Missouri at $3.14.
