Garett Lockhart has been named president of Red Brick maker Atlanta Brewing Company, one of the metro area’s oldest craft brewers.

Lockhart, who has been with Atlanta Brewing for five years, takes on the position immediately, the company said Monday.

The 35-year-old Lockhart most recently had been the company’s Head Brewer and has won several industry awards, including a silver at the U.S. Open Championships in the specialty category.

“We are excited about selecting Garett Lockhart, our current Brewmaster, to lead Red Brick Brewing,” former Atlanta Brewing president Bob Budd said of Lockhart, a native of Southern California, in a statement. “He has shown tremendous talent and commitment to make our beers ‘great.’”

In addition to Red Brick, Atlanta Brewing also is known for the Laughing Skull craft beer brand.
