Four Seasons Atlanta, Lodge at Sea Island draw top hotel marks

The perennial best hotels in Georgia — the Four Seasons Atlanta and the Lodge at Sea Island — have done it again.

The two took top honors as the state’s leading lodgers in 2014, according to Forbes and AAA.

Forbes gave both five stars, its highest honor, while also bestowing the designation on the Cloister at Sea Island.

AAA designated the pair with its top five-diamond award. Other five-diamond award winners include InterContinental Buckhead, St. Regis Atlanta and Ritz-Carlton locations in downtown Atlanta, Buckhead and at Reynolds Plantation in Greensboro.

Notching a spot at the top of either list is coveted by the hospitality community as it brings prestige and allows the properties to command top dollar for rooms, often starting at $500 a night.

The Georgian Room at the Lodge was the only Georgia restaurant to receive five stars. (None received five diamonds from AAA.) The spa at Sea Island received five stars from Forbes.

Other winners include:
