The former CEO of Yahoo has joined the board of an Atlanta company that lends money to small businesses.

Scott Thompson, who left Yahoo after five months after inaccuracies were found on his resume, joined Kabbage’s board. Thompson is currently the CEO of ShopRunner, and was president of PayPal from 2008 to the early part of this year.

“Kabbage is rapidly reshaping the small business financing space in the same way that PayPal reshaped the payments space over the last decade,” Thompson said in a statement. “I enjoy working with, and believe I can have the most impact on, companies that are re-inventing the ways financial services are delivered to consumers and small businesses.”

Kabbage uses social media, shipping information and other data from small businesses to make quick decisions on loans to those companies.
