The former owner of Atlanta's women's basketball team has joined the board of rent-to-own furniture company Aaron's.

Kathy Betty was one of the first female partners at Ernst & Young, according to a statement from Aaron's, and was an executive vice president and partner with the consulting firm ScottMadden, Inc. She started The Tradewind Group, an incubator, and was the owner of the Atlanta Dream, a WNBA team, from 2009 until last year.

In a statement, Aaron's president and CEO Ron Allen said Betty's business management and entrepreneurial skills will be an asset to the board.

Betty is the second person to join the Aaron's board this month, following the addition of former Invesco North America CEO Hubert L. Harris, Jr.
