Firehouse Subs expects to more than double its presence in metro Atlanta.

The Jacksonville, Fla., chain has 29 outlets in metro Atlanta, its third-largest market behind Jacksonville and Orlando.

Firehouse Subs officials said the chain has commitments for 31 additional outlets in metro Atlanta through new or existing franchisees.

It has an overall goal of 81 restaurants in metro Atlanta in the next seven years, Firehouse Subs co-founder and CEO Robin Sorensen said. He and his brother, co-founder Chris Sorensen, are former firefighters.

Since 2005, the chain’s Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation has donated $1.75 million, including $75,000 in the Atlanta area, in equipment to public safety organizations.
