Atlanta-based Delta Air Lines diverted a flight to Charleston on Thursday after an engine problem, the carrier said.

Passengers posted images on social media showing a smoky haze in the cabin.

The Boeing MD-88 flight was originally headed from Fort Lauderdale to New York LaGuardia, but after a problem with one of the plane’s two engines, it landed safely in Charleston with its 89 passengers.

Delta said technicians examined the aircraft in Charleston, and another plane flew to Charleston from Atlanta to depart at around 8 p.m. to take passengers to New York.
