For the 11th consecutive year, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and AJCjobs is honoring and celebrating nurses throughout metro Atlanta and Georgia.

Again this year, from hundreds of nominations, an independent panel of judges has chosen 10 extraordinary nursing professionals to represent thousands of their colleagues at the annual Nursing Excellence Awards.

Held during National Nurses Week, May 6-12, this year’s luncheon was on May 10 at Cobb Galleria.

Carrie Stone from Northside Hospital (Forsyth) was among the honorees who went above and beyond the call of duty to make a significant impact on their patients.

Stone was nominated by director of patient care services, Carolyn Booker who in part, wrote: “Carrie’s sensibilities are selfless - she consistently seeks to serve others, whether it is serving through her role as a nursing supervisor, through her service as a girl scout troop leader for the past 16 years, to her support to a newly married young woman who was widowed suddenly, or by her providing CPR training to members of her church and subdivision, Carrie Stone has been there to lend a helping hand.”
