Doubletree hotel near Braves stadium site in Cobb sold

A Doubletree Suites by Hilton hotel near the new location for the Braves stadium in Cobb County will undergo a $6 million renovation after being sold to a Dallas-based commercial real estate firm.

New owner Encore Hospitality said the renovation of the 154-room hotel, adjacent to the new SunTrust Park, the name of the new stadium, will be completed in 2017, the year the new stadium is expected to open. The renovation will include a sports lounge.

Encore Hospitality, a subsidiary of Dallas-based Encore Enterprises Inc., purchased the hotel from Inland Hospitality of Palm Beach, Fla.
