Former Atlanta Falcon Dewey McClain was named Wednesday president of the Atlanta North Georgia Labor Council, a local affiliate of the AFL-CIO.

McClain played linebacker for the Falcons from 1976-1980. He played another two years in the U.S. Football League. McClain was also active in the National Football League Players Association, a biography says.

He worked for the City of Atlanta for 22 years.

The council advocates for working families and furthers unionism across metro Atlanta.
