Development envisioned around Atlanta “aerotropolis”

Aug 1, 2016

Aerotropolis Atlanta Alliance planners envision a region surrounding Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport that includes a corporate crescent, an “airport city” and a “green corridor” of trails.

The specifics of the type of development they would like to see are laid out in a recently released blueprint. The document also lays out catalyst areas including a “cargo city” to the south of the airport and an “International Gateway” area east of the international terminal.

Also anchoring the aerotropolis are the historic downtowns of East Point, College Park and Hapeville, according to the report.

The report was prepared by a team led by Jacobs, for the Atlanta Regional Commission and the Aerotropolis Atlanta Alliance.
