Delta regional pilots form alliance to address safety

Pilots at Delta Connection carriers announced Wednesday that they have formed an alliance to coordinate pilot safety, security and training.

Atlanta-based Delta Air Lines uses subsidiaries and contract carriers to operate regional aircraft as Delta Connection.

The Delta Connection Pilots Alliance is formed under the auspices of the Air Line Pilots Association. Its members are pilot groups at Delta Connection carriers represented by ALPA, including Delta subsidiaries Comair, Compass and Mesaba, along with contract carriers Pinnacle and Atlanta-based Atlantic Southeast Airlines.

The Delta Connection Pilots Alliance said it "seeks to remove competitive pressures" and will pursue initiatives to improve safety and standardize training.
