A Delta flight to Atlanta landed safely in Phoenix on Wednesday afternoon after being diverted due to engine trouble.

Flight 2267, a Boeing 757 en route from San Diego to Atlanta, had indications of possible engine trouble and the crew decided to divert the flight to Phoenix out of an abundance of caution, Delta spokesman Morgan Durrant told the AJC.

The emergency was due to a right engine shutdown, the Federal Aviation Administration told Channel 2 Action News.

The plane, with 179 passengers on board, taxied to the gate under its own power, and everyone safely disembarked with no injuries reported, Durrant said. A replacement plane was due to take off from Phoenix at 5:45 p.m. local time and arrive in Atlanta at 12:15 a.m.

Some passengers may be rebooked on other flights depending on their final destinations.
