Delta CEO elected chair of industry group

Dec 2, 2010

Delta Air Lines Chief Executive Officer Richard Anderson has been elected chairman of the Air Transport Association, a major airline industry lobbying group.

Southwest Airlines chief executive Gary Kelly was named vice chairman.

Both men will serve two-year terms. Anderson will succeed Glenn Tilton, the former CEO of United Airlines, in the position of chairman of the association.

Anderson, who has been vocal about government issues ranging from federal labor rules to oil speculation, said the association's focus is "to move tax and regulatory oversight in a direction that fosters growth and makes us an even stronger economic engine in America."
