Cox Enterprises announced Thursday that Alexander Taylor has been named executive vice president of the Atlanta-based communications, media and automotive services company, effective Jan. 1. Taylor will report to incoming Chief Executive John Dyer.

Taylor has served as senior vice president of field operations for Cox Communications, a cable provider that is a subsidiary of Cox Enterprises. In his new role, Taylor will also oversee Cox Enterprises’ long-term investment strategies.

Cox Enterprises began in Dayton in 1898 when Taylor’s great grandfather James M. Cox purchased the Daily Evening (now Daily) News.
