Construction spending down nationally

The Department of Commerce estimated construction spending in September was $787.2 billion, seasonally adjusted, which is 1.3 percent below spending a year ago.

During the first nine months of this year, construction spending amounted to $580.9 billion, 3.5 percent below the $602.0 billion for the same period in 2010.
