Georgia lost 1.3 percent of its construction jobs between February and March, according to the Associated General Contractors of America.

The number of construction workers dropped from 141,700 to 139,800, the most recent U.S. Labor Department numbers say. Twelve states added jobs, while 36 lost them.

“The March figures may simply reflect a bit of a correction after last year's harsh winter and this year's mild winter impacted typical March hiring patterns,” said the association’s chief economist Ken Simonson. “But the industry is still burdened in many states by weak demand for single-family housing, retail, office and public construction.”
