As another indicator of the starving building industry in Georgia, the Peach State lost 12,700 construction jobs between May of 2010 and May of 2011, according to the Associated General Contractors of America.

It had a one-month loss between April and May this year of 1,000 jobs, according to the group's analysis of Department of Labor statistics.

Only Florida lost more jobs year over year, with 14,300 positions gone.

Other states who suffered the greatest in yearly losses were Colorado, with 8,900 jobs lost,  North Carolina with 8,000, and Maryland with 6,700. Nevada lost 6,500 and Wisconsin suffered 5,900 jobs lost.

Twenty-two states and the District of Columbia showed gains in construction jobs, including Texas, with 23,200, Michigan with 6,300, Illinois with 5,900, and Tennessee with 4,200.
