A specialized concrete company plans to hire 250 at a new manufacturing center in Augusta.

Gov. Nathan Deal’s office said Wednesday that EdenCrete Industries will locate a global manufacturing headquarters in a new $67 million facility. EdenCrete, a subsidiary of Eden Energy Ltd. of Australia, makes a “carbon-strengthened concrete additive” for better performance in roads, bridges and other infrastructure.

“We selected Georgia, and in particular Augusta, to establish our global manufacturing base, not only because of the government’s great support for industry as is evidenced today and Georgia’s highly efficient transport access to the both the North American and international export markets, but also, because of the warmth of its people, the quality of its workforce and the attractive standard of living and opportunities that it offers our future employees,” Eden Energy Chairman Greg Solomon said in a news release.

The release said the state Department of Transportation recently approved one of the company’s products for quick repairs and is expected to test the EdenCrete projects for road construction.

The company plans to build its factory in the Augusta Corporate Park south of Augusta’s downtown. The industrial park is owned by the Augusta Economic Development Authority. Walter Sprouse, the authority’s executive director, said the EdenCrete announcement follows other high-profile jobs deals in the city, including ADP, Textron and UniSys.
