After withdrawing and refiling its applications with the Federal Trade Commission, Coca-Cola Co. followed a similar process with the competition authorities in Canada. The Atlanta-based company withdrew its required notification with the Canadian Competition Bureau to give the agency more time to review Coke's plan to buy the North American business of bottler Coca-Cola Enterprises. Coca-Cola refiled its paperwork last week.

"This action is a normal part of the approval process of transactions this size," a Coca-Cola spokesman said. The company still expects the deal to close in the fourth quarter of this year.
