Coca-Cola refiles bottler purchase plan with FTC, Canadian regulators
By Jeremiah Mcwilliams
Aug 3, 2010Coca-Cola Co. withdrew and refiled its "notification and report forms" with the Federal Trade Commission to give federal regulators more time to review the company's plan to buy the North American operations of its main bottler, Coca-Cola Enterprises. Coca-Cola also withdrew and refiled its required notifications with the relevant competition authorities in Canada.
Coca-Cola said the moves were procedural steps to give U.S. and Canadian regulators 30 more days to review the applications. The company refiled the documents on Monday. Coca-Cola said it does not expect the transaction to be delayed, and continues to predict the transaction will close in the fourth quarter of this year.
