Coca-Cola Co. named Bea Perez its chief sustainability officer in a new global Office of Sustainability, effective July 1. Perez is currently chief marketing officer for Coca-Cola North America.

In her new role, Perez will work on Coca-Cola's sustainability initiatives in packaging and recycling, water, climate protection and community. She will report to Alex Cummings, Coca-Cola's executive vice president and chief administrative officer.

"We have made significant progress with our sustainability initiatives, but our current approach needs focus and better integration," said Muhtar Kent, Coca-Cola's chief executive. "We are realigning this important work to create a unified team, strategy and business plan that connects our sustainability work and actions."

Perez joined Coca-Cola in 1996 as an associate brand manager. While with Coca-Cola, she has worked with NASCAR and in various sports and entertainment positions. Perez, 41, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing from the University of Maryland and lives with her family in Atlanta.
